April 2007 - Wolf Creek Uses Renewable Energy and Showing Instructions
Wolf Creek uses 100% Renewable Energy
The owners of the Wolf Creek Ski Area have begun to purchase all of their electricity from renewable energy resources. Several reasons sparked the change for Wolf Creek. First, the owners would like Wolf Creek to set an example for the rest of the Valley. With Wolf Creek leading the way, participation in the SLVREC Green Power program should increase. Second, the Pitcher Family (owners of Wolf Creek) have been a part of the Valley’s history for many years and they would like to do everything they can to protect its resources. Finally, the owners recognize that skiing is recreational activity that is not an essential part of life. With that, it makes sense for them to only use renewable energy.
Wolf Creek will purchase the energy in 100 kWh blocks from sources such as windmills. While the electricity may not come directly from the renewable source, it will be consumed by other customers. For more information on this program, please contact the SLVREC at 800-332-7634.
