November 2007 - Ski Season and Chocolate Festival

Ski Season is Open at Wolf Creek

The Wolf Creek Ski Area, known for the most snowfall in Colorado, has opened a few runs already in this early snow season. With a year-to-date snowfall of 18 inches, skiers are warned of early conditions on the slopes. Wolf Creek has a summit elevation of 11,900 feet and an average annual snowfall of over 400 inches. The mountain is located on a direct route from our ranches on Highway 160. Drive time is usually about 35 minutes from South Fork River Ranches and 40 minutes from Pronghorn Ranch.

There has been little news on the pending Village at Wolf Creek. The development at the base of the mountain has been delayed through court proceedings by local environmental groups. Proponents are still advocating for its approval because of the positive economic impact it will have to the area.

Creede Celebrates Annual Chocolate Festival

For 18 years, Creede has hosted the Chocolate Tasting Festival for locals and tourists. The competition features a wide array of chocolate delicacies that range from the ordinary to the bizarre. This year’s festival was held over Thanksgiving weekend.

Creede is a beautiful town located northwest of South Fork. In addition the famous Creede Repertory Theatre, the old mining town plays host to many festivals and celebrations throughout the year. For more information, visit www.Creede.com.
